Re: World Junior 1-16 August 2012
Sorry I deviated the topic, but fills time while waiting for results ; ) Yes Roger there are rules of qualification but we are not Welsh, we lived there 9 years and Meg qualified to play for Wales through this. The good thing is that once you have represented Wales as a junior you can continue to do...

Re: World Junior 1-16 August 2012
It is rather a shame that Megan gets the bye in the last round. She has had a really good tournament gaining 31 points (performance 1971). I thought it was a shame too - her initial goal was 5 results from 13 rounds, and when this was achieved she was going for 50% points and a tournament rating of...

Re: Sepcial events for the 100th in Torquay
With 77 I was aiming at us non-chess players who would prefer to shop ! - judge the best chess themed shop window display. People would have a map of the shops involved and award points as they went round. The coupons may have been an incentive the shop could offer (printed on the entry form) to ge...

Re: British Championships 2012 - Games
Perhaps they will ask for a 'contact number during the event' on the entry form in futureKevin Stavely has just personally phoned us to tell us of the change.
Very impressive service and we thank you very much.

Re: Glorney Cup Round 1
Another joke - Wales getting pre-event information - we think we're lucky if we are told which day to turn up ! I would have guessed 30 minutes, as the games are on a time-scale similar to the British Junior ie. 2 hours each all moves. I wouldn't have been surprised at 0 default time to get them use...

Re: Glorney Cup Round 1
Before I had to leave this morning... because as usual this event is in term time....
I thought Wales would have had a 1 point default point on board 4 Stokes cup as James didn't have a player within the default time - what happened ?

Re: Draft Junior Selection Policy for 2012
The question will arise as to whether there should be a lid on the size of the party, simply for logistical reasons. Let's not forget in Brazil it was already 21. Opening the selections out may lead to a party of 50 or even many more going. Any views on that? Don't forget that from 2014 FIDE said t...
