Re: EU Senior Team Ch 2017 Novi Sad

It was a nice finish by the Belgian but 12 o-o-o by Milosavac was a horrible move which led to an automatic attack for White. The Serb continued to play very fast right to the end presumably not having seen the idea of Qc4 followed by Qc6.

Re: EU Senior Team Ch 2017 Novi Sad

The Serbian Board 3 is, incidentally, the guy who beat Russian GM Pushkov yesterday. To go from that to playing 2 .. Be7 is, to say the least, startling.

Re: EU Senior Team Ch 2017 Novi Sad

In the Belgium-Serbia match in the over 65s, the Serbian board 3 (rated 2092) played 1 e4 e5 2 Bc4 Be7 as Black and the Belgian after some thought produced 3 Nc3 - shouldn't be too difficult to spot 3 Qh5, surely.

Teplice 2017

A strong tournament in which Ezra Kirk moves smoothly through to 4/4 having beaten a 2442 from Israel in Round 3 and played very well to beat Maxim Turov (2590) in Rd 4.

Chessbomb website

Hi all Has anyone registered for Chessbomb. The reason I ask is that I like the live game set up but I cannot stand the inane chatter from people who generally seem to have grades and IQs in double figures and that is before you get to the homophobes, xenophobes etc. I wondered whether if you regist...

Re: Ever sat at the Wong Board?

Take a care, my dear Dr Petrie, look. It is the Wong board - do not sit there whatever you do. Fu Manchu is certainly hereabouts.

Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete

Huzman resigned in a position which doesn't look totally gone - ah well. Down to Jon Speelman who is probably enjoying his pawn up endgame position.

Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete

I see John Nunn has lost quickly as White against Israel. Very disappointing but no doubt showing just how difficult it is to play at this level without regular practice.

Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete

Even before Nigel's d6, the position was surely drawn - Black has a blockade and White's extra pawn is useless.

Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete

Keith's position is really awful even given his legendary powers of recovery. He is a pawn down with a worse King and a worse minor piece but still we shall see.

Re: World Senior Teams 23 April to 3 May, Crete

Comin up to the time control and Speelman seems to have survived the worst of it - in fact I'd take his position and probably fancy him to win actually. They just agreed a draw! :!: And Keith looks to have blundered. :( (though the sacrifice looks difficult to see) I am not sure that it was all tha...

Re: Southend Congress

Don't know if anyone else noticed but Matthew Wadsworth resigned in a Rook against Rook and Bishop ending against Alan Merry in the last round in a position which was still drawn. Also interesting is that Alan won with R+B against R in the 1st round against James Golding.
