Re: When do you resign?

well sometimes people resign prematurely (better than patzers that play on in the hope of getting a stalemate in completely lost positions...I usually try to get as many queens on the board in those rare scenarios) last year I played a Central London league game against Nick Faulks and the position ...

Re: Richard Haddrell

Huge shock... like so many others I guess I thought Richard would go on forever and always turned to his SCCU page for the latest county results. His site was always up to date and he used to update county matches almost as soon as the results were known. I never met him in person but spoke to him o...

Re: High Court defamation suit

"Jennings argued that Morriss had several potential norms he could call on if this one were rejected, and the letter from Fitzsimons is a continuation of an incident between Morriss and Fitzsimons before Fitzsimons succeeded Morriss as ICU Chair. It wasn’t clear to me what the decision was here...

Re: High Court defamation suit

It all sounds a bit technical to me........i.e. that Pete was not in attendance for the 9 rounds is surely not in question... I was not playing in that tournament but I know one of the witnesses reasonably well and I believe that there were several other witnesses that could easily testify that Pete...

BREXIT fallout toxic shares to avoid?

just my observation but the banks and house builders look very toxic at the moment recording their biggest ever 2 day slump in their histories. For anyone holding these stocks a good option might be to sell and wait until the dust settles...say end of the week or August? From memory the last crash i...

its the end of the world BREXIT - lighten up

You will enjoy this. Catchy little number by R.E.M. We all (4 of us) voted to leave the EU, ....interestingly Hillingdon (Borough in London! - west) voted to leave by 56.8%...(which means Hayes residents probably voted 80%+ to leave) we have had enough of the migrants and asylum seekers being dumped...

Re: Kasparov blitz challenge

there sure are a lot of Kasparov haters here....3+ pages of bitch bitch bitchin about a living legend... It was a privilage watching him in action again.....as Carauna said in the post tournament interview " he is of course much weaker than he was 15 years ago but he is still a very strong play...

Stephen Gordon is on 5/6 and well in the running...the BKK open is fast becoming one of the top tournaments in the world...it was always no.1 in my opinion for quality of venue and playing conditions.

Bangkok Open 2016

Nigel Short is having a tough time losing again this morning to IM Wynn Zaw Htun- rated 2407 (I drew with him in 2004 when he was rated 2460). that appears to be the end of Nigel's chances of winning the tournament. He is now on 4/6 with 3 rounds to go. https://chess24.com/en/watch/live-tournaments/...
