Re: British Chess Championships 2011

Surely the most interesting case would be Mike Haygarth. That really would be a shocker if you could get him to play - have to find him first!

Re: British Chess Championships 2010

Correct me if I'm wrong, but at the present moment the only reference to Adams's victory on the official website I can find is on a caption to a photograph. This is not impressive.

Re: Adam Hunt (at the British)

Re: British Chess Championships 2010

Are the Major Open Rd 1 results correct? On boards 1-14, the seeded players scored 5 draws and nine losses

Personally I'm most impressed with the adult who's gone up 54 points. That can't happen very often. It's not Jonathan Hawkins is it?

Re: Chess/ bridge

Peter I meant a) The money should go to the best players. With more money on offer due to money being shunted away from 130s and 160s the top prizes would go up, and more titled players would play in weekenders instead of writing books or playing poker. As I said with the tournament being all one se...

Re: Chess/ bridge

So in a major shock, the strong players agree with me, the weak players don't. You obviously think it perfectly fair that if you entered a weekender with say Richard Bates in the top section, playing to a level you can't even dream of, that you should walk off with more money than him by beating a f...

Re: Chess/ bridge

I think the lower sections should subsidise the higher sections, or to be more precise the weaker players should subsidise the stronger ones. I think lower sections should actually be abolished to make way for one big section with a large prize. This would lead to stronger players coming in at the t...

Re: Right or Wrong?

But there are people on here with anonymous handles. One rather strong player has registered with an anagram of their name and no-one seems to have noticed. I won't comment further. And no it's not me!

It appears James Sherwin won Frome, Richmond and Chipping Sodbury in consecutive weeks. Good stuff from someone in his late 70s!

You two (Louise and Gary) seem to have a symbiotic relationship. Do you by any chance know each other?
