Re: Volunteers Needed

Carl, I believe HP have said they will provide 70,000 sets for 7,000 schools by the end of July 2010. That is what I was told a little over a month ago, and the office has not been notified of any other changes. There are, however, more than 7,000 schools registered for this project, who are still t...

Re: Volunteers Needed

Hi, John is right, I leave the ECF this week. Andrew has taken over, and all enquiries, should anyone want to make any, should be directed to cfs@englishchess.org.uk. To my knowledge (although I have not been directly involved with this for a week or so now), HP have a new machine, that is waiting t...

Re: Volunteers Needed

I do not believe the project is dead yet. I believe there is time for HP to produce the 7,000 boxes by the end of July if they dedicate a machine to producing pieces as they have stated they plan to do. This would be fantastic, and with the summer holidays then being present, will give ample time fo...

Re: Volunteers Needed

John, You are right, it is very pleasing to see movement of sets into schools, and of more pieces being produced. My contract expires at the beginning of June so I am unable to comment on the resources that will be available from the office. I have made arrangements with 35 LEA's already for distrib...

Re: Volunteers Needed

Another 12 boxes left Holloid's today, with a volunteer distributing in the Surrey area.
HP have said they aim to produce more pieces this afternoon.

That's all I have!

Re: Volunteers Needed

Hi Carl, Yes, I should know more on Monday after CEM has spoken with Holloid's. I am also due a report from the warehouse manager updating the number of chess pieces produced over this weekend. All going well and to schedule (fingers crossed) there should be more sets leaving Holloid's in the next f...

Re: Volunteers Needed

The Holloid Plastic update is now available from the ECF website.

HP did produce some pieces over the last weekend, and is scheduled to manufacture more this weekend. CEM has a conference call with HP tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, hopefully there will be more news then.

Re: Volunteers Needed

A quick friendly update for you: I still have no news on when production will resume as I have been on holiday myself this week. I am waiting to hear from either Chris Majer or the production manager at Holloid's. I do know that he was on holiday for a week or two, but he should be back next week. I...

Re: Chief Executives Report

Hello all, Here are a few points for you to consider: 1) Holloid Plastics has been in continuous production of chess pieces. The sets are not produced as sets per se but as individual pieces in batches. There are 3 moulding tools used to produce 1 sets of pieces. The first makes the Pawns, the secon...

Re: Chief Executives Report

Hi Carl, The sets sent to Stockton had already been manufactured, packed and distribution organised before I had had any contact with Matthew Turner. Holloid Plastics at the time had continuous production of chess pieces in place, allowing me to be able to look at scheduling more deliveries into dif...

Re: Chief Executives Report

Cleveland was not involved in the Stockton On Tees distribution of Chess Sets for 2 reasons. The main one being that Cleveland as an area has a huge amount of schools registered and I have broken this down into smaller individual areas. The sets are being distributed by LEA's and Redcar & Cleveland ...
