Re: European Team Chs in Warsaw
Didn't waste time reading the warning and this is final comment I'm going to make on it- both Nigel Short and Michael Adams have similar views, but don't waste that much energy putting them out. Other GMs don't want foreign players playing in the British Championship either. Certainly more chesspla...

Re: European Team Chs in Warsaw
Think 2nd 'England' result got the name wrong... how about... "rag tag team of people from everywhere" :). So you know, I've reported your post Mark. I'm finally fed up with you writing utter crap time after time. And don't try to make it appear like a joke with a smiley - it's quite the opposite, ...

Re: Magnus Carlsen piece in the Guardian
Thanks, that's good to know. The flow of the thread made me think that. And I don't want to be famous, so glad it's working

Re: Magnus Carlsen piece in the Guardian
Anyhoo, good for The Vibers for not resorting to fawning and for asking some real questions instead. Are you swiping at me, Jonathan? I'm doing chess journalism for fun , not to make a living like Peter Doggers, so I have no intention of impersonating Jeremy Paxman. I wanted my interview to be more...

Re: Middlesex county footage on youtube
Action packed highlights – Maria making move... If you only filmed for those three minutes you did well to capture Maria actually making a move! A rare moment indeed, before the time-scramble. Ever considered a career as a wildlife documentary cameraman? :D I think I was at the start of the...

It was probably best to write something like that: I sat down with anticipation as a supporter of Judit Polgar

If you haven't read this already, I recommend Sutovsky's interview about the scandals at the European. It's an eye-opener! http://chess-news.ru/en/node/6851 And it was translated by me from Russian

Re: Round 11 results
It was a lot quieter in the upstairs room than it was in the London room. We had to contend with slamming doors, noise from outside every entrance which increased as the day wore on, the wedding and noisy staff not to mention many boards being close to the arbiters, numerous post mortems in the pla...

Re: Rate of Play
Mike, I agree with you that doing a poll on the ECF forum isn't going to give an accurate picture while testing the water with the captains is a good idea. I'll just have to remember to check if my captain is going to the meeting and give him my views! Richard, I agree that intensity of some time co...

Re: Rate of Play
There is a good rule - if it ain't broke, don't fix it! At the moment the 4NCL offers the luxury of a longer time limit, and it allows players to make firm travel arrangements. If there are suggestions for improvements to be made at the 4NCL, I am sure they would be considered seriously. But this o...

Re: Rate of Play
Come to Sheffield! On the comparison between the two - the appropriate question is not "under which time control do you get into the most time trouble?", but "under which time control do you play the better chess?" (until you blunder all your pieces in the time scramlble 8) ) Yes, I'm thinking abou...

Richard, yes - I'm a chess tourist! I love visiting new places and play a bit of chess! I wouldn't accuse a Russian of not being serious about chess though
