Re: Worrying times
And don't forget 'The Quatermass Experiment' from BBC 1953. I remember the family getting together (Sundays I think) at an aunty who had a tv. Very scary, I hid behind the sofa and poked my head around to have a peep every now and then.

Re: World Cadet Chess Championship 2018
Good photograph and thanks for informative reports. I recognise GM Peter Wells and I think John Merriman on the left. Who are the other coaches?
Shame about the weather, kids and team members usually find worthwhile things to do. All the very best to players and supporters.

Hi, I'm providing the digital clocks (DGT 2010). Is the rate of play going to be one of the standard settings?
Thanks

Re: ECF Finance meeting 2018
From Michael Farthing above. "The ECF are fortunate to have loyal and hardworking staff in the Office. It is too easy to push extra work onto them such keeping tallies of enquiries and other incidental tasks; it just wastes everybody's time to no obvious benefit. I have always found that the Office ...

Re: ECF Finance Council Meeting April 2017
I was about to reply when I saw the comment above from Angus French. My understanding was that apart from something in the region of £10,000 a year supporting the British Championships (and I think there are some conditions to this relating to junior chess) any other expenditure was on income receiv...

Re: English Primary Schools Chess Association
From Peter Turner My name has just been mentioned in this tread so I'm happy to make some comments. I would like to say that I remember the Whitley event with some fondness but sadly not so. I have my wife Gill sitting next to me as I type, my memory is far from accurate but Gill remembers it very w...

Very sad news, a tremendous loss to family, friends and the whole chess community. John was an invaluable source of help and advice in my various roles, over the years, for the BCF & ECF.

Re: EU Youth Championships
I cannot find this event on the ECU tournament list.

Sorry, just seen that it is listed, didn't scroll down far enough. Very unfortunate clash with the Mureck event.
