Re: Bile Beans Anyone?
Just following up the issue of whether an Aldershot Chess Club existed. I lived in Aldershot from 1950 to 1969 and there was certainly no chess club in the town at that time. The only historical link is to an Aldershot Services Chess Club set up during the Second World War for Army personnel but thi...

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)
On a very different note, it would appear that a record that was set in Torquay for the longest time gap between winning two Championship titles, albeit that in both cases the titles were shared. In 1959, Graham Chesters (Crewe) shared the U-15 title with D Ian W Reynolds. In 2013, Graham (Hull) sha...

Re: Louis de Veauce
Just a couple more bits of information. Baron A A E de Cadier was born 09 November 1908 died October 1996 in North Surrey. He and Ethel Crick married in April-June 1947 in Kensington, London. Louis's sister (Anne on the birth records I have seen, and Marianne on the marriage records) married Michael...

Re: Louis de Veauce
The website 192.com has Louis E de C de Veauce on the 2013 Electoral Roll living in the Worsley area of Manchester M28. His birth date is given elsewhere as 1947, but there is no birth date or marriage record for Louis in the England and Wales official documents. There is a reference in the 'Old Boy...

Re: Bruce Hayden
The official records show Hendy Bruce Hayden's death in October 1997 in the Kingston-upon-Thames Registration district; the same records show his birth date as 07 April 1907 but no place of birth. There is no record of a Hendy Hayden in the ScotlandsPeople website nor in the 1911 England and Wales C...

Re: BUCA Team Championship Winners
Ian is absolutely right and thanks to him for spotting another senior moment! Game 161 is indeed Jones, B - Carleton, J and not Chesters, G. Will try to amend the pgn file - not quite sure how to do it at the moment - and resubmit. I will also try to send a Final Table for the Individual Championshi...

Re: BUCA Team Championship Winners
Apologies first of all for the long delay in adding to my previous contributions. I attach two files. The first is the corrected players file promised in September! The second is a pgn file containing the 180 games played in the BUCA Individual Championship played at Swansea 1968. This is my very fi...

Re: BUCA Team Championship Winners
Thanks for noting the mistake - J O'Dell it is in the tournament book - Manchester I was team H in the final two rounds and I probably got confused when typing the list - a senior moment.
I will wait a couple of days to see whether any other errors are found and then resubmit the amended file.

Re: BUCA Team Championship Winners - Swansea 1968 Book
This book of 114 pages was produced using the most advanced technology available to a post-graduate student at the time - two-finger typed using an old-fashioned stand-up and hit-me typewriter on Banda foolscap stencils, corrections using red fluid and then run off on a hand-cranked ink printer coun...
