Re: Sultan Khan - A newly discovered game and a challenge

It would not take long to take a picture of every page in a scorebook and post it on Flickr for JS to enter the games into Britbase. Plus that would advertise the club to the world!

Re: Sultan Khan - A newly discovered game and a challenge

Hi the game in question. It is game no.83a in Aitken's Chess Scorebook which is at the Edinburgh Chess Club. This begs the question of whether the games of Aitken's scorebook have been entered into a database. If not, I would happily volunteer my services; as, perhaps, would other members of the fo...

Golders Green Rapid moving to new venue after 27 years!

After about 27 years (!) we are moving our monthly tournament to a new venue from October 2017 (reason: old venue has been leased to a nursery). Does this make Golders Green the longest running chess event at the same venue in the UK? Our new venue is St Luke’s Church in Kidderpore Avenue, London NW...

Please post details of the funeral and other arrangements here as soon as you have them; Peter was a lovely boy and a fine man and a great team mate at Hendon Chess Club.

Re: MSA Masters, Doha

No PGN, no. The tournament was, for whatever reason, not using duplicate scoresheets. That could have invalidated any title norms obtained. Congratulations on a great result, Jack, but in the circumstances it is perhaps just as well that it wasn't a GM norm. Where in the title regulations does it s...

Re: Liverpool Englsh Rapidplay Congress now open for registrations

Not strictly - you could play in a FIDE rated blitz, where there are currently no membership requirements. If only that were true. Chess Scotland requested the allocation of a FIDE Identification Number to an Englishman resident in Scotland but were refused because he was not a member of the ECF. C...
