Re: Jack Rudd's candidacy for NED: Q&A thread
Please have one of the moderators delete my account since this sort of degenerate and unconstructive thread is now the norm. I thought the problems in British Chess that I saw at the British Championships were bad enough - oh wait, if I posted about that, the world and his wife would jump to deny my...

Re: Farewell to Jimmy Adams!
David, The August 2010 issue looks back fondly on John Saunders time at BCM in some depth in a dedicated article starting on page 422. The May 2011 editorial thanks Steve for his numerous contributions during his (regrettably) short period of tenure. Simply, I was looking forward to a review of JBA...

Re: Tromso World Cup 2013
Andreikin (1-0 in 42) How is it pronounced? One twitter poster suggested "and Ray Keene" That's pretty accurate I would say, but the "ee" in Keene should be shorter, so it should be said like "kin" but with a "ee" sound instead of the "i" sound. I speak a little Polish (it's broadly similar to Russ...

Re: A Better Move - Blog
Chess Training for Club Players Black to move. Is there anything useful to improve the position before either Qxc3 or bxc3? Playing ..Bf5 would force bxc3 but is that to Black's advantage? Presuming it's either a London system or a slow Trompovsky, experts in that sort of stuff should know the answ...

Re: the Chess time machine battle
That doesn't neutralise anything - Tal of any year has more knowledge and technique than Anderssen by definition - I think it'd be impossible to separate the two things out. So I imagine what you mean is to give in this case Anderssen, all the knowledge possessed by Tal, to equalise, then just have ...

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)
I agree with Nigel and you on this one, but please be a little more careful not to make quite such sweeping statements without qualifying, about minor section entrants (presuming this includes all grade limited sort of players) :) Personally I know that I and quite a few people I know try to prepar...

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)
I agree Jack that it would rather defeat the purpose not to be offered a re-pairing in such a situation, and I've always preferred them too, though it must be frustrating if such a pairing ends up with a relatively strong player parachuted in leaving you no time, since I presume it would be way out ...

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)
Aha - Nigel S - that accounts for it. He's always had a bee in his bonnet on this matter since his absurd behaviour at the Isle of Man a few years ago. Even so, you'd think even the ECF could restrain him from this sort of nonsense - no, sorry, what am I saying?! I disagree with Dr Short on a lot o...

Re: Chess Player Strip Searched
Back in March I was accused of being a computer user in the following game. It made me deliriously happy though also sorry for the guy who clearly must have been in bad form if he was that level below understanding my play :) [Event "ChessCube Game"] [Site "www.chesscube.com"] [Date "2013.03.26"] [R...

^^ Why don't you ask him (:
It would be inappropriate for me to respond directly to you on the forum but if you want to ask via PM I would be happy to. Suffice it to say I am well

Re: 2013 British Chess Championships (Torquay)
Yes but that doesn't make sense though - in context, all the other correct draws are posted quite clearly, which seems to negate the idea that this is the result of any specific hacking. Whatever, I also have a bye this afternoon in the PM Open so I can watch the British commentary.

Where are the pairings for the U180? They don't appear to be up yet, and it's 3am :S
