Re: Boris Spassky

Latest update here, though things aren't exactly crystal clear: http://www.whychess.org/en/node/2864 (incidentally, the following was also published a couple of days before ChessBase published something similar... http://www.whychess.org/en/node/2820 - it's worth bearing in mind the first two interv...

Re: ECF loses case

I wouldn't say it was a win for Kirsan, given CAS's comment about FIDE's " awkward disregard for constitutional formalities " and the fact that only a fraction of FIDE's costs were awarded. Agreed. It can be painted as a won court case, but it was won on technicalities (they appealed the ...

Re: ECF loses case

In the event that the appeals were upheld, the ECF and the GCF were asking for a contribution to their costs amounting to at least $195,244.09 but also suggested that a higher amount would be warranted if their total costs exceeded $1 million (section 106, p21)... so the ECF's and the GCF's combine...

Re: Jovanka H. in the Daily Mail

Dylan Loeb McClain's been writing a chess blog or column for the New York Times for years, so his piece doesn't really fit into the "ChessBase story picked up by the general media" rubric at all.

Re: Jovanka H. in the Daily Mail

I guess this had all the elements of a perfect "ChessBase story" on women's chess, though if they hadn't helpfully translated "décolletés" as the tabloid-friendly "cleavage" I doubt the Daily Mail would have picked up on it. CB also failed, as usual, to point out that...

Re: FIDE Law Suit

However, I remain puzzled that the issue could have been the talk of the chess world for so many months except, it seems, in England. Can you point to any public forums, websites or blogs where this information may have been disclosed? I don't think it's been on chessbase, chessvibes, chessninja, c...
