Re: 4NCL Time control
Is this going to be discussed this weekend, with the captains and players?

Re: 4NCL Time control
No captains' meeting this weekend, but I learn from Mike that captains will be asked about their preferred time control. So by all means continue to discuss it with team members, and (more importantly) be ready to respond when the email comes around.

Re: 4NCL Time control
My personal preference is for the longer time control. It's a rare opprtunity to play proper classical chess, and is quite a large part of what makes the 4ncl a special event. I would not tinker with a winning formula unless absolutely necessary.

Re: 4NCL Time control
I like to focus on one game in my remote viewing. Today it was Townsend v Shirov.
Surely that was dead drawn? I'm guessing time was a factor in the final collapse.

It certainly looks as if it should be drawn, but that’s what a difference of 400 rating points can do, I suppose.Nick Ivell wrote: ↑Sat May 04, 2024 7:21 pmI like to focus on one game in my remote viewing. Today it was Townsend v Shirov.

I suppose the presence of rooks gave swindling chances. I've been hustled in like fashion at 4NCL, though not by anyone as good as Shirov!
