There's an interesting discussion on the Chess Scotland forum here: http://www.chessscotland.com/forum/view ... f=4&t=1234

Is this a cunning way of trying to get us all to register for their forum?

I'm delighted to be able to say that a team from Scotland has now definitely confirmed its entry for next season's 4NCL. Division 3 North teams - look to your laurels!

Definitely good news, whether its the start of a full scale invasion or just a border raid.
One thing for sure is that - NE excepted - we'll all have to stop considering ourselves Northern

Does make arguing about travel distances a bit futile, not that it will stop anyone
Any postings on here represent my personal views

No worries about travel. They'll take the high road...
Could be problems at breakfast though. Never enough black pudding for the Mancs. Now there'll never be enough haggis for the Scots.

Their moderators can be much fiercer than you though. You're a pussy cat by comparison!

This place used to be great until Widnes sh*te joined in.

We are considering an immediate ban to the other place option.

It is within your power to delete it.Mike Truran wrote:Oops. Just took my own topic off topic.
Why would an Officer of the ECF wish to engage in such acts of provocation?

This is indeed very good news.... if they bring some of there fine whiskey down, the chess could be electric..MartinCarpenter wrote:Definitely good news, whether its the start of a full scale invasion or just a border raid.

But seriously, this could provide us with a great opportunity perhaps to consider North Shields, Whitley Bay, or maybe Chester-le-Street as possible venues for our Finals weekend matches.
Some great curry houses around, including South Shields, which is a short Ferry trip across the Tyne...not to be missed.
Certainly Whitley Bay has bags of cheap accommodation, I believe. Maybe a £5 per head supplement might be needed to secure a suitable venue.
And the train services to Newcastle + Tyneside Metro are also pretty good.
Definitely worth an extended break to see some great North East places, for those interested in seeing the many visitor attractions....!
Bring it on...

No worries - had already assumed Michael was joking. Of course, in these high-octane and emotionally charged times, who can really be sure of anything any more ......
PS
1. 'Whiskey' has no 'e' unless it's Irish.
2. I fear I have no plans to scour South Shields, North Shields or Whitley Bay for 4NCL venues.
