The 1st Idle Chess Congress went really well this weekend. I'm sure that some of the competitors only came to say they had played at the Idle Working Mens Club!
Although we were lower on numbers than expected due to the weather it was still a competitve and fun event.
My personal thanks to those competitors who pulled out due to the weather but donated their entry fee to the tournament in order to lessen the financial effect on the congress that the weather caused.
The winners were:
Group 1 - Peter Shaw - 4.5/5
Group 2 - Gawain Ako - 4/5
Group 3 - John Gibbs - 4/5
Group 4 - Jon Mahony - 5/5 (Grading Prize - Barry Fulthorpe - 3/5)
Groups 1-3 were played on an all play all basis, group 4 was a 10 man swiss.
