Hendon Megablitz, March 10 2011

Post by Phil Makepeace » Fri Mar 11, 2011 1:42 am

Great event and enormously strong. My 185 grade was only good enough for about 10th seed out of 30. Hopefully, with more notice, 50+ will turn up next time.

Top placings:

1st: Lalic GM 9/10 (£100)

2nd: Cherniaev GM 8/10

3rd=: Georghiou, Makepeace 7½/10

5th: Fry 6½/10

The top 5 just took points off each other throughout, leading to some massive downfloats after the pairings between us had been exhausted.

In addition to the above, Georghiou also drew with Tryfon Gavriel in Round 10, while Charlie Fry drew with Cristian Mures and Anthony Kent.
