2012 British Blitz Championship

Post by Alex Holowczak » Sat Mar 24, 2012 8:13 pm

Ameet Ghasi won the 2012 British Blitz Championship, after beating Robert Willmoth in round 11 to score 9/11.

Tahir Vakhidov, Loz Cooper, James Cobb and Mark Hebden were tied in second place on 8.5/11.

These results are subject to confirmation.*

Full results will be published in due course.

* For some reason, the final results are only on Dave Thomas's memory stick, and not my hard drive, so I'm waiting to be e-mailed the results in full.

It was a pretty fun day all in all, and quite exciting to watch the lead keep switching between players throughout the tournament.

I thought the arbiters did a good job under such pressure to keep the rounds flowing as quickly as they did.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

The arbiters are knackered, and we have a Rapidplay to run tomorrow.

Thanks for your kind words though. :)

Well done to Alex, Dave and the team for a brilliant event. Fast and furious for players and arbiters but a lot of fun.

Thanks to Alex for an extremely enjoyable and well run tournament. Just a pity I missed three rounds due to the vagaries of West Midlands public transport!

Spare a thought for those of us who rely on it on a daily basis. :D

I had to rely on it on a weekly basis when the club had fewer drivers than teams. I think we may once have made it to an away match on time, but it's difficult to remember when!
