Congratulations on a successful Congress. It's good to know that e2e4 Chess isn't just a one man band.

Indeed it isn't. Thanks to Alex, Loz Cooper and Matthew Carr for making sure it all ran smoothly.David Sedgwick wrote:Congratulations on a successful Congress. It's good to know that e2e4 Chess isn't just a one man band.

What was the story behind the surprising quick draw on board one in the final round?

That would be interesting to know, as in those circumstances it did seem very surprising.

Well, me and Eggy are mates, and we figured that if we draw quickly we'll get down the pub in time for ManC vs ManUBarry Sandercock wrote:That would be interesting to know, as in those circumstances it did seem very surprising.

Certainly a reason. Was wondering why my live match ended so quickly. Hope you enjoyed the tournament and the match.Keith Arkell wrote: Well, me and Eggy are mates, and we figured that if we draw quickly we'll get down the pub in time for ManC vs ManU

Malcolm Pein in his Telegraph column also notes that the tournament winner is now only 1 point away from the 2400 rating that would make him an IM. Whether relevant or not, there are likely to be easier routes to that extra point than trying to beat Keith.Matthew Carr wrote:Certainly a reason. Was wondering why my live match ended so quickly. I don't know how many CSC employs these days, but Malcolm notes that all three section winners were CSC tutors.

Re: e2e4 Bedford Congress: September 20-22
CSC may be entering up to six teams in the 4NCL Rapidplay, comprising as I understand it mainly CSC tutors, so the (imprecise) answer is 'quite a few'. Whether any of the teams will be sufficiently strong to be a match for the top seeds is another matter!
