The Frodsham Congress - Feb 2009

Post by David Pardoe » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:50 am

The Congress took place at Frodsham Community Centre 13-15th February, The three sections were again expertly controlled by Roger Edwards, Robert Milner and Jim McPhillips.
I`d just say that....as well as some good competitive chess, its a friendly, popular event attracting players from across the country, and a chance to renew aquaintances....some players returning over many years to this comfortable venue, set in the rural surroundings of the historic market town of Frodsham. It being only a ten minute walk from the venue...and providing a good spot to visit between rounds. The Friday evening session tends to be slightly quieter, due to some players taking the half point bye....so the action really starts on Saturday morning.
A brief mention on catering, which was well supported by the ladies, not least Mrs Edwards & friends.....who do a great job behind the scenes over the weekend..

There were 99 players. The results were:
