The five GMS shared first prize and there was a four-way tie in the Major and two players shared the Minor first prize. Local success included Shropshire players Michal Bukojemski (my clubmate from Church Stretton) and Ed Goodwin who shared first in the Major, and Roger Brown who shared first place in the Minor.

Re: Shropshire Chess Congress 2016
Thanks Lawrence and Mick.
Yes we were very pleased with the success of the event and had lots of positive comments over the weekend and will be conducting a formal feedback process shortly. Players enjoyed having a lot more space with many boards being just one to a table, and the presence of five GMs and other titled players was a big boost. The live board displays in the playing rooms and the analysis room worked well, and the incremental time control came into its own for a number of the top finishes.
We are certainly hoping to continue to improve the congress next year and are pursuing a number of ideas.
