Hi Carl, the winner in '87 was FM Tyson Mordue, and in '93 IM Gary Lane.

My last shared first was with GM Gawain Jones in '08.

GM Gennady Timoschenko turned in in '92 attempting to top up his prize money earned from jointly winning Lloyds Bank Masters with GM Jonathan Speelman just prior to the event, but failed to do so after a last round defeat at the hands of IM Loz Cooper.

The last time a GM other than myself played was in 2014 when Danny Gormally tied for 2nd with FMs Steve Berry and Dave Ledger and IM Richard Bates.

I think IMs Gary Lane and Geoff Lawton account for a number of the tournament victories during the years in which I didn't compete. Possibly there is a Steve Berry in there too. For a more accurate answer you could try asking Bob Jones.

My database says he won it in 2005. The other 5 years I have were all ones where you won it and he came second.

I think that Geoff Lawton won it in the year (2000?) when Paignton held a GM tournament alongside. I recall myself making a relatively feeble effort to try and win with black against him to catch him in the last round.
