The 1st British Bangla Chess Association (BBCA) International Rapidplay Chess Tournament was held at London Enterprise Academy on 4th December, 2016. Executive Mayor of London Borough of Tower Hamlets, John Biggs, opened the day-long tournament by playing a friendly game with BBCA Chief Adviser, Abu Musa Hasan.
More than 100 participants from about 20 nationalities including two Grand Masters and one women International Master fought a tough battle to clinch the attractive prizes.
BBCA are extremely grateful to the sponsors, who are equally delighted by seeing a successful lively chess tournament at the heart of Bangla Town in London's East End. We are very much encouraged by the sponsors who have already pledged to support BBCA to organise another chess tournament.
This first tournament was not ECF graded nor FIDE rated.
