Re: British Rapid Play
Round 2 now in progress includes GM Matthew Turner v Isaac Sanders, which may interest Forumites.

Ooh. Matt's just won a pawn with 28.Bxc5. Any other interesting games going on?Leonard Barden wrote:Round 2 now in progress includes GM Matthew Turner v Isaac Sanders, which may interest Forumites.

Well, I'm not getting any more updates for round 2. Wonder what's happened?Carl Hibbard wrote:Howell looks to be playing well but it's early days

Re: British Rapid Play
It's OK now. I see Summerscale lost in round 2. What I can't see is a list of the current standings or a list of the full results for each round. I suppose those will appear later at some point, or am I missing a link somewhere to them?Christopher Kreuzer wrote:Well, I'm not getting any more updates for round 2. Re: British Rapid Play
This is confusing. The live board indicates that Summerscale lost in round 2, but the round 3 live board shows "GM Summerscales, A" on 2/2. And Matthew Turner is playing "e". Presumably this is Eddie, the dreaded e-pawn, that plays to Rybka-strength and above. I have to pop out for a bit anyway, but I may end up watching highlights of the World Cup blitz instead when I get back.
Re: British Rapid Play
I think it's safe to say that Summerscale didn't start with 3 whites so I suspect he was black in round 2

Re: British Rapid Play
That makes sense, but it looks like Summerscale lost to Howell in round 4. From what I can tell, Howell, Jones (who beat Hebden in round 4), and Palliser (who beat Turner in round 4) have made it to 4/4, with Haslinger and Hart on 3.5/4.LozCooper wrote:I think it's safe to say that Summerscale didn't start with 3 whites so I suspect he was black in round 2
Re: British Rapid Play
If Aaron was black in round 2 (black won in his game) that would explain how he got to 3/3 before losing to David. I suspect that Turner won on time judging by the clock times so think it's David & Gawain on 4 with Turner, Haslinger & Hart on 3.5. Entertaining chess so far anyway.

Re: British Rapid Play
The draw for round 5 shows you were right about Turner winning against Palliser. I suspect that the only way to be sure of a result is to follow the game from start to finish and judge from the clock times what is going on. I'm slightly disappointed that so many results on the top boards are being reported incorrectly on the live displays.LozCooper wrote:If Aaron was black in round 2 (black won in his game) that would explain how he got to 3/3 before losing to David. PS. I just noticed Howell's rapidplay grade of 270 (though Hebden is also stratospheric with 260)!
