Board 6 has four queens on the board after 13 moves, albeit I think it's a theoretical line.

Around a dozen examples it seems, all won by Black. 13. .. Qa5+ (activating a queen with check) had always been preferred to 13. .. c5 (activating a bishop)LawrenceCooper wrote: albeit I think it's a theoretical line.

Re: Blackpool
Sadly I had no idea this was theory or what the theory was (although I thought my opponent knew it as he was playing quite confidently).
Re: Blackpool
Is there anyway to see the results/ games from previous rounds?

Re: Blackpool
I don't think so, although I expect it will appear after the event is over.benedgell wrote:Is there anyway to see the results/ games from previous rounds?
Re: Blackpool
The annihilation of David Walker by Matthew Webb was a nice way to win the tournament (jt with Keith Arkell). Walker absolutely must play 17...Bxg5 because 17...h6? 18 Nh7 (with action on f6 to come) is a known winning idea in such positions. Webb still had to retain his composure to find 23 c4!, keeping the Q-side closed, after which he turned out the lights (1-0, 25)

Re: Blackpool
He's been doing that sort of thing to some awfully strong players recently
(I did briefly wonder when Walker played on with Qb5 and Webb seemed to be thinking over Qh6.....).
Keith seems to have got to 4.5 too, and they drew vs each other in round 3 (iirc) so I guess they share it?

Nobody would believe it was the real me there, tying 1st with Matty Webb, if they looked at my games: average length 29.6 moves! About 30 less than my normal average, but was too exhausted from Dresden to do it any other way.David Robertson wrote:The annihilation of David Walker by Matthew Webb was a nice way to win the tournament (jt with Keith Arkell).(1-0, 25)

That may explain the live board operators giving you the alias "Keith Allen" in several of the gamesKeith Arkell wrote:Nobody would believe it was the real me there, tying 1st with Matty Webb, if they looked at my games: average length 29.6 moves!
