Scanning the ECF Calendar and plotting my chess campaign for the next couple of months, I noticed the Metropolitan Chess Congress is back after an absence of a couple of years. That’s welcome news for London-based players who have few opportunities to play standard-play congresses in the Capital, save for the London Chess Classic.

The congress takes place over the weekend of 20/21 October 2012 and is once again at the superbly located City Of London School For Boys, on the north side of the Thames between Blackfriars and Southwark Bridges.

There are three sections: Open; Major (Under 171) and a Minor (Under 141). Details from here:
