Chess Computer Repairer Wanted

Post by Greg Breed » Wed Sep 21, 2022 8:07 pm

Hi all,

It's been a while since I was on here, but now that I'm back I have a request from the community. Does anyone repair or know of anyone who can repair a Chess Computer. The one where you have a proper board and press the pieces down to play a move?

Our Club Chairman and Honorary Life Member - Jim Wrigglesworth - who is 90+ years old and still going strong has asked me if I can help him in this regard. He is happy to pay for the work although I will be vetting on his behalf.

Mephisto from Saitek Cosmos Kasparov

I'd had a look online myself, but thought I'd try within the community first.

Many thanks,
Greg Breed

If you can find someone who will do it cheap then disregard this post, but if you need an alternative you can pick up those old chess board computers on eBay for £20 or less (I threw one in the bin recently during a clear out) so it might be the easier option then trying to fix something decades old.
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Have you tried contacting the manufacturer? What's the nature of the problem?
