If it is still off there is no problem.

If it is on then the possibility exists that the player could have been assisting a team mate. Although the most likely scenario is that the player will simply be ordered out of the playing hall, the possibility exists, especially if a chess engine is running, of deducting game points from the teams score.

Common sense should dictate what will happen in other situations.

This was posted on the Shropshire Chess Association website on 31st January 2023:
'New FIDE Rapidplay Rule"
"FIDE have published the new rules of chess applicable from January 2023, including one change to the FIDE rapidplay rules.
Traditionally an illegal move in rapidplay is punishable by giving two extra minutes on the clock. This has now changed to one minute."
