What Have I Missed.

Post by Geoff Chandler » Sat Jul 15, 2023 10:28 am

At the bottom of the page it states;

'Most users ever online was 280 on Sat Jul 15, 2023 7:24 am'

What was going on a 7:24am this morning and why was I not invited?

Edit: This post is time stamped 9:28 but I posted at 10:28. So maybe the crowd was here at 8:24.

Edit 2: The time of the 280 people online has just changed to 6:24 am...Carl something is happening.

It's there now:

In total there are 84 users online :: 9 registered, 1 hidden and 74 guests (based on users active over the past 5 minutes)
Most users ever online was 280 on Sat Jul 15, 2023 6:24 am

Hi Tim,

It was gone a minute ago now it's back again. The time stamp is lagging by an hour it will be correct in October. (Spring Forward - Fall Back)

How do you check the leaderboard for the number of posts that members make?

[With due acknowledgement to Richard O'Brien - no, the non-chess one .... ]

Jiff-Geoff:
It's astounding;
Time is fleeting;
Madness takes its toll.
But listen closely...
Carl:
Not for very much longer.
Jiff-Geoff:
I've got to keep control.
I remember doing the time-stamp
Drinking those moments when
The Blackness* would hit me
Carl:
And the void would be calling...
All:
Let's do the time-stamp again.
Let's do the time-stamp again.

* And of course the Whiteness
"The chess-board is the world ..... the player on the other side is hidden from us ..... he never overlooks a mistake, or makes the smallest allowance for ignorance."
(He doesn't let you resign and start again, either.)

Thanks Tim.
I can't access the leaderboard from my smartphone but I can through my tablet.
I see that I am in the top thirty now and less than twenty posts behind Tim Harding.

Bots yes I am afraid so and perhaps worse since we switched to Cloudflare for some reason.

I can tell you we run at around 7,000 unique visitors per day.

What I don't understand is what anybody gains from running bots in a place like this forum - can anybody explain?

Google run stuff to help searches by building indexes. For forum regulars using a key word and perhaps an author a Google search will find posts even back to the start of the forum many years ago.

I am classing search engine type crawlers or bots and most of those are genuine.
