Yeah I think the ECF would be after his gooooooooooooold....

But wouldn't they have to pay a TRANSFER FEE for such a player...

It shouldn't be allowed.

Isn't he the player GM Adams was meant to play a celebrity match against at last month's chessfest? This suggests he maybe based in England. Perhaps he likes the place?

Needs an official reasoning...

Because obvs he's not born in England, hasn't played much/any chess in England lately... and it would need a tranfer fee??

Surreal... shouldn't be allowed to take a true English place in team events.

He wouldn't be the first non-Englishman to play for England if he was selected. Murray Chandler springs to mind as does Mir Sultan Khan.

Why not? It's not as if England has a surfeit of 2700 plus players.

Going back over thirty years, Mihai Suba was an asylum seeker and later played in the European Championship for the England team.

Do you have to be affiliated with the ECF to appear in the rating list? Wasn't aware that was the case, if so.

There is a duplicate thread on this - "New number one England player"

We haven't got any now, he would be the only one.

Probably not if he's transferring from FID, as I suspect a lot of Russians currently are.

Welcome Nikita! He joins a long list of players who have changed federations after a warmonger's actions in their country of origin. I am proud to accept such players as fellow nationals and teammates.
