Chess Awareness Day

Is there a chess awareness day in York this weekend?

I read about it on the English Bridge Union website.

I think the ECF could learn a lot from the content and style of the EBU website.

It's interesting to contrast, the EBU have a front page article, more detail on another page and multiple downloadable PDF's for this event.

The ECF has 2 lines buried in the Calendar.

13 Apr - York U18 Championships & Training with ECF Coach Nick Nixon, National Railway Museum York.
Peter Cloudsdale, 5 Pear Tree Close, Huntington, York, North Yorkshire YO32 9QZ (Tel: 01904 767177, Email: [email protected] ) At the event there will also be various board games via Mind Sports, Gerr yhas.

All I can say about the EBU is they are all paid, the ECF are all volunteers and even the office is massively over worked. Their web master is paid a full market value and more. If we had the same we would look as good.

Hmmm, Chess Awareness Day - I'm a Chess player and I wasn't aware of it. Oh, the irony!

This thread is the only reason I'm aware of it now.

Well done ECF...
To Drink or not to Drink, that is the question.

I Drink therefore I am.

I'm not as think as you drunk I am.

The day is more about getting Mind Sports out in to the public eye by putting the event inside the Railway Museum in York. Even though leafets were sent out the objective is not to keep the information in our secret world but to show it to the hundreds (if not thousands) of people who walked through doors at the museum. Its a great event and raises awareness in the local and wider public (I think everyone should try and do something similar).

I am surprised that you are not aware of chess yet!!

It was meant for Juniors but mainly the general public. You already know about chess. Good event, I trained up 14 juniors, and I wasn't even a listed coach.
