Nunn's life outside chess I know a bit about, but GL? What is his "hinterland", then??Matthew Turner wrote:Lots and lots of excellent suggestions, but two chessplayers who I'm sure everybody would enjoy having dinner with are John Nunn and Graham Lilley. They both have an eclectic range of interests, so you'd be sure of an interesting conversation.

Ah, so it wasn't because he might be passed out drunk on the table.darren webb wrote:y'know, the nazi articles might get mentioned.
I'm sure he'd have had a reason, besides it's not like he was the only chess player to say some dodgy stuff.

That's Mr Stone to you, f**kface.

How about getting three representatives of the MCF and Jim Tennant-Smith to have a dinner; preferably in Manchester?

Matt,
I believe Graham was the librarian at the Braille library, so his hinterland is basically knowledge. I had the opportunity to have a chat with him after a game many years ago, I remember the topics ranging from the FA Cup to the Socio-Economic development of Japan. Hugely interesting with a fair few jokes thrown in.

Just two for dinner. Edward Winter and Eric Schiller.
I'd pay to be at the table for that one.
Seriously....
Brian Reilly
B.H.Wood
Leonard Barden
Irving Chernov
I'd simply wallow in the tales from these four.
(I would smuggle in a tape recorder).
