Matthew reports today was the fourth and final day of chess scene shooting on Coronation Street and all went well

For a moment I misread that as 'chess shooting scene'. That would get it in the news.

Blimey! I thought it was a joke when Corrie was mentioned earlier. P. will be delighted (am I sure???) as I won't have to bugger off upstairs or out with the dog when Corrie starts.

Surely not if it was in Manchester?

I recently wrote to the BBC and suggested that they bring back the Master Game. Perhaps if a few more people did we would see its return!

We have done that type of thing before. For a newspaper column it has taken about 100 independent requests to revive a column. 1000 might do the trick for TV.

'You Cannot Be Serious' ITV1 16th June, after the adverts, for a sketch on exciting chess commentary, featuring Magnus Carlsen v who? We are sure an eagle-eyed forumite will recognise him. The programme will probably be on ITV on-line soon. Can someone provide a link? It reminded us of a Monty Python episode... Watch out for the song at the end...

Yeah I saw it too, extracting the urine as usual, shame they have never heard of algebraic notation.

I will be away and have missed this so far. Could somebody record it for me and eventually pass it on? It is to add to my collection.
The same applies to chess in Coronation Street.

Looks like Alexander Onischuk to me (the American flag next to him being a big clue). My database tells me they played a blitz match in Biel in 2007, after tying for first in the main event, so I guess that will be where it's from.

Storyvault Films Limited filmed junior players around the UK and coaches and pitched it to Sky for a show called "Winners". Sky did not pick up the show, they are currently pitching it to other broadcasters. They filmed the children at home, schools, clubs and tournaments!

Stewart

I think it starts 2 July, you could easily record every episode from then and delete the ones where chess doesn't feature

But I get back 3 July and want to record other things while I'm away. My system doesn't led itself to changing channels while away.

Nimzowitsch had the same problem until he upgraded to Sky+HD.
