British Chess Championships 2011 (Game of the tournament)
Anyone want to nominate a game of the tournament for the British Chess Championships 2011? Might be a tad early, as hopefully some of the games from round 11 will be contenders, but which games have people enjoyed most so far? Links to games are here:

I thought about setting up a poll, but Jones-Bates seems such a clear favourite, did not seem worth it

Why is Jones-Bates such a clear favourite?

I quite liked Houska - Gordon...

I was impressed by the way Short squeezed out a win in round 6 with Black against Hawkins.
I also really liked Hawkins vs Conquest in round 4.

The winner of the Best Game Prize was Hawkins-Short

I'm an idiot. If I'd done a poll, I'd have voted for that, but assumed short, flashy tactical games always win!cjdemooi wrote:The winner of the Best Game Prize was Hawkins-Short
Short played the most interesting chess, in my opinion, so a deserving winner of this prize.

I think that's the difference between a 'brilliancy' prize and a 'best game' prize. A brilliancy is short and flashy, preferably involving the sacrifice of several pieces culminating in mate by move 20. 'Best game' is for those of us who think 80 moved of subtle manoeuvring to turn a slight edge into a win is just as interesting as the flashy stuff!
