The latter, eventually. Fascinating game 8)

Absolutely - maybe Kramnik should switch to e4 more often :)

Aronian won that, for anybody that cares

Great stuff in this match. The round 3 game was very instructive and entertaining (didn't Hebden used to play this ...Bc5 line against the S4N?), the two round 4 games very instructive, too. Perhaps Kramnik was wrong to agree the draw in the first round 4 game, as he was surely under no real pressure, and possibly stood better in that endgame?

Maybe not, given how he played :)

The rapid games will not be rated or count in the final match score - so perhaps Vlad doesn't really care much about that loss.

Indeed he did but he plays so much he must have played a great chunk of openings - for an individual - in his praxis.
Kramnik-Aronian m(3) went 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.d4 ed 5.Nd4 Bc5 6.Be3 Bb6 7.Qd2... 23.g3... but 7.g3... 20.Qd2... was Lane,G-Hebden 1994 London Lloyds 0-1 (32)

I bet I'm the only person - or at best one of very very few - who is hoping for another Berlin today. Admittedly, if Aronian goes for 1 e4 again it will be a bit of a sign that he's happy to draw the match.

Just started, last round being a bit earlier. e4 from Aronian again, then the d3 anti-Berlin,

Looking quite tasty, a real strategic and tactical battle (Black's just played 21.. c5).

Thank goodness it wasn't another soporific Berlin endgame.

Shipov's Chessvibes move-by-move commentary is good fun, too.
