....boards! I have stored some rolll up chess boards to start a new school chess club. My daughter's Guinea Pig, 'Cutie' escaped and found them. I managed to stop the rampage at 2 boards destroyed!
Anyone else been thwarted in chess matters by a pet?

Cats have a tendency of sitting down in the middle of the chess board while play is ongoing. This is because they want to place themselves at the center of attention.

Cats eh ! Sometimes when I sit down to play through a game, my cat’ll lie down right in the middle of the board, stopping play. What really intrigues me though is that sometimes when I’m looking at a middlegame position with nearly all the pieces still on the board, she’ll walk across the board without knocking any of the pieces over! This means that as she doesn’t have eyes in her backside, she knows exactly where the pieces are in relation to her back legs without looking.
I can therefore only assume that my cat has better board vision than I do!

There was a letter published in CHESS once, the sender requesting another copy of the previous issue as the writer's goat had eaten the first one
