Kramnik-Aronian match

Post by Paul Cooksey » Sat Jan 28, 2012 9:09 pm

Via TWIC, Kramnik announced a 6 game match with Aronian in April today. Video. I enjoy matches, and like both players, so I'm happy.

Interestingly a rapid game will be played if any game finishes in less than 3 hours.

2 hours 40 minutes into the session:
<Kramnik> Draw?

21 minutes pass

<Aronian> I accept

surely the game only finishes when the draw is agreed? :o

Who thinks this match will be more interesting than the official world championship this year between two players in their forties who have each finished fifth or so (or worse) in their latest events?

Possibly, but only a training match nonetheless

Has the venue been confirmed as Zurich?

I think the words "western Europe" were a slight hint against Baku even before that.

... a decision that was justified, having just watched Stephen Hendry make a 147. :D
