RED BULL TV cartoon ad. Robot plays blitz with a human. The computer says something like, I can see one trillion variations. The human takes a swig of Red Bull and presumably wins. At least, the robot sweeps the pieces from the table complaiinig he human has had an advantage. It had cheated anyway. moving the piece with one arm and punching the clock with the other.
There have been at least two Red Bull ads featuring chess. I approached them about sponsoring chess, but got no response.
They did, however, sponsor Hikaru Nakamura a bit later.

When Holger Czukay, who has died aged 79, became one of the founding members of the Cologne-based band Can in 1968, his role was that of bass player. “The bass player’s like a king in chess,” he reflected later. “He doesn’t move much, but when he does he changes everything.”

Gogglebox Channel 4 now - speaking about doctor foster - just like a game of chess/checkmate?

I don't think so with lubricants and vibrating devices which could distract at the chess board.

Suranne Jones may be a great actress showing all the cold calculating cunning of a grandmaster but that is about the only connection I can see to the game of chess.

Katie Derham on "Last Night of the Proms" is giving a tour of the Royal Albert Hall and has said it has featured "Chess-boxing", with the perfectly reasonable comment, "No, I don't know what it is either".

"Profile of Lev Alburt in the WSJ"

Interesting article, especially the photo of the stone chess set.

Technically not a media comment on chess, but this video clip features snooker being used as an analogy:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/science-en ... -be-allies

I wonder if someone creative might do a similar clip featuring chess being played!

They would probably not do any worse than the snooker 'director' did...

Today's Daily Telegraph page 11

Lord Price, former trade minister and MD of Waitrose revealed the secret of boardroom success: mastering chess at a young age.

We have known of his interest for some time. He wrote a fairy stoy, 'The Foolish King', explaining the origins of the game.

Sunday afternoon watching "come dine with me". Susie is a glamour model and columnist. And a fitness fanatic. Chicken breasts with goats cheese, baked potatoes and vegetables followed by a banoffee treat. Susie throws a few of the others off their game by revealing she is a chess player and even has a chess set in her bedroom. I do not think she will have done enough to win but not sure I can go through another 2 episodes today...

Although the chess set was the wrong way around.

This is a repeat. I'm pretty sure I mentioned this episode on this thread before.
