Re: London Chess Classic 2013
It looks like we are playing the prediction game:
A) Anand, Istratescu
B) Kramnik, Svidler
C) Gelfand, Nakamura
D) Caruana, Sutovsky
What do I win?

I agree with Matthew, except I've put Kramnik to creep ahead of Svidler. Is anyone confident enough to predict an overall winner or expected finalists? Or failing that, which two players not paired in the group stages would you like to see play in the knock-out stages? I'd like to see an Anand-Kramnik match-up, and Adams-Caruana. A repeat of Anand-Gelfand, less so. Is the draw done again for the quarters, or do we know which group winners play the runners up of other groups?

Er... Luke lost. Was he ever winning (doesn't look like it to me) or is this just a mistaken assessment?Barry Sandercock wrote:Luke McShane winning nicely against Anand.

He probably was winning, but it was never easy. Maybe he should have played Rxd3 instead of Kf1 when black played ...d3+.

Chessbomb is saying 33.Bc4 (+1.05) instead of 33.Bxc6 (-0.5).

Moves on the live games feed have frozen. Only way to follow games (with difficulty) is the video feed.

Re: London Chess Classic 2013
Is this likely to be a recurring problem with a rapid tournament? It seems obvious that the imprecise placement of pieces during a fast flurry of action will stuff up the live feed ... or am I worrying unnecessarily?

Watching live, Trent and King had a forced win with Luke playing c5 a move before he actually did i.e. instead of taking the rook with Q x a8Christopher Kreuzer wrote:Er... Luke lost. Re: London Chess Classic 2013
Apparently McShane was clearly winning against Anand indeed.
But Anand then managed to recover in an amazing way, I must say. Something we would never see under classical time control (maybe for the best ?)

Re: London Chess Classic 2013
Today's live feed only kicked in about ten moves into most of the games. Interesting though it may be to play through two juniors competing to see who can leave most pieces en prise, I prefer to watch the GM games...
And it's now given up the ghost completely. Caruana and Howell have gone past 100 moves, but the board still shows the position at move 21!
