Absolutely. Surely the principle is right in itself and the mischief is in the implementation?Andrew Stone wrote:Quick let's all start a discussion about the merits of the ECF membership scheme!Phil Neatherway wrote:Am I the only one watching RdeC's game?

You mean Surtees has zero development and Black controls the only open file?

34 games, quite a lot to follow!Andrew Stone wrote:Quick let's all start a discussion about the merits of the ECF membership scheme!Phil Neatherway wrote:Am I the only one watching RdeC's game?
I have started a thread on the 'Live games' board, maybe stuff about games can go there and general stuff here?

I attended the Wellington training day on Saturday. 2 lectures by Yang-Fan Zhou were fantastic. I'm a fan!

Gosh really? Mind you, I don't see why Keith hurried to occupy the d-file (which means putting the bishop on e6, where it is not so well placed and may encourage Nc3-d5). At move 9, I would have much preferred his position due to the two bishops, the opportunity to open up the position when it suits him since White is too undeveloped to force the pace, and the hole on d4 may come in handy too. 9...g6, I'd have thought.Nick Burrows wrote:Houdini prefers white!Jonathan Rogers wrote:Just clearly worse already, isn't he?Andrew Bak wrote:Surtees went right down his main line, ROT lives!

Oh, but he has apparently rushed it with 11 e6, surely he is hardly better at all after 12...Ng7 ?Jonathan Rogers wrote:Now surely 11 Na3 from Gawain ...

I would think that 14.Na3 is very pleasant for WHite although there are a number of possibilities to consider... including 14.b4!?
