Does anyone know what's happening at this site? It's been publishing regular monthly columns for fifteen years or more.
The regular early February updates have been replaced by a message
Look for a new column when we relaunch in May.

The items at the top of the page (eg the "daily links") are still being regularly updated, however
I agree it would be nice if someone at the site let us know what is going on!

My Guess as to what's happening is "They re-launch in May."

I've noticed that for months all they've been selling is e-books (rather than real books, which they used to). So maybe a change of ownership.

It seems the "relaunch" date has been put back to June now.

I hope the wait is worth it.
This is one of my favourite chess portals and hope the guest writers are kept as their content was top notch.
Let's hope the substance is still there and not just a glossy overhaul without the content.

They don't specify a year.

Subscription model now I see. $50 a year - suspect they'll have a serious reduction in traffic.

I suppose if you look at it as being similar to a magazine subscription, $4 a month doesn't seem too bad, assuming all the archives are accessible for that price. Personally, I can't imagine too many people shelling out for it, but I'd imagine they know what they're doing.
Time will tell.

$50 is too much. I only read (or rather, used to read) the book review section. I've bought books from them in the past, which helps to support the site. For $70 you can get a year's membership at the ICC and roughly the same for a year's premium membership at Playchess.
