The July 6th 2014 (Season 3, Episode 27) edition of Channel 4′s Sunday Brunch featured a nine minute interview of IM Yang-Fan Zhou by Simon Rimmer and Tim Lovejoy.

Yang-Fan talks about how he became interested in chess, ratings, preparation, psychology and the forthcoming British Chess Championships.

He discusses the concept of controlling the centre of the board and the importance of central squares and uses the King’s Indian Defence to provide an example.

That was a very good interview by Yang-Fan and for once the Channel 4 TV did not appear to want to cause controversy.

Yes it was a refreshingly in depth interview for mainstream tv.

I attended one of the Wellington College Training days, where Yang-Fan gave one of the lectures. His was the best of the bunch, and really interesting. He teaches very well; i then won a pawn off him in a simul before he crushed me in short order!
