Travel Case for DGT Chess Clocks

Post by MSoszynski » Tue Aug 19, 2014 7:35 am

Has anyone here examined at close hand the 10-clock Universal Storage and Travel Case for DGT Chess Clocks? Any comments? Another picture of the insides would be helpful - the generic pictures on the web are all the same. My Club is considering buying one of these cases.

Much experience travelling with DGTs - assuming you have the original DGT boxes, the bags for life from Sainsbury's (can you still get them? I have loads, send me your address if you want some) are perfect for carrying 10 clocks, and much cheaper! The metal flight cases are good for stacking, and I imagine for flying, and quite light. It is harder to carry more than one case in each hand. Possibly they are more likely to be stolen, as they are very similar to the cases that musicians use to transport expensive equipment.

The best thing about these

is the custom foam insert, which you don't always get with these cases.

Thanks, Adam. The problem is that the original boxes gradually get beaten up, and the bubble-wrap sleeve gets lost. Also, with a case, it would be much easier to see at a glance how many clocks are actually in or out.

This is true. How often will you have to transport the clocks? Where do you store them? I know our chess club cupboard won't take the case, but will take bags.

I have a theory that if the shape of digital clocks had been the same as for BHBs, that the uptake of digitals would have been faster, as you would be able to store them in the same boxes. Almost all the analogue rivals to BHBs adopt its shape.
