Hello everyone,
we usually run a Christmas Lightning Event at our club, where games are played at 10 second a move, many years ago, more than 35, a member laboriously recorded a cassette where he
announced every ten seconds, white, black, white, black, white etc . . . that tape is now pretty much destroyed and I am not sure we even have a cassete player
Does anyone know of a downloadable free alternative to this?
Many thanks
Trefor

Re: 10 Second Chess - Audio
The DGT 2010 timer has a buzzer / lightning feature on-board and is audible above the din of a school chess club.
It is the best suggestion I have but not free!

I don’t have a download version but if you have a 3G phone between you you can go to youtube and there are plenty of clips there that will beep at the required time interval.

Re: 10 Second Chess - Audio
This thread from last year had a few suggestions
http://www.ecforum.org.uk/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=5197
If you have a device to hand with sufficient volume, you need someone to set up something that speaks
White to move
ten second delay
Black to move
ten second delay
and then loops
Alex McFarlane suggested the use of Powerpoint in last year's thread.

Thanks for the help, once pointed in the right direction and with the help of

It turned out to be a simple thing to do in PowerPoint - 10 minutes at 10 second followed by 5 mins at 5 seconds

If you can make the Powerpoint loop work, you could also create your own audio file using Windows Sound Recorder. Laptops usually have a built in microphone.Trefor Owens wrote: It turned out to be a simple thing to do in PowerPoint - 10 minutes at 10 second followed by 5 mins at 5 seconds
