Kasparov has a deep understanding of chess and politics. How he mixes the two, we will get to find out.

Actually, his history suggests Gazza doesn't have a great understanding of politics (the chess variety included) at all.

Most players may not think much of FIDE, but recognise one of their few tangible achievements under the present regime is reunifying the (men's) world title. Kasparov - knowing his megalomania - might just see this as a way of reviving a rival championship.

Something chess needs like a hole in the head IMO.
