Diagram Publishing with Chess Pad

Post by soheil_hooshdaran » Fri Aug 26, 2016 9:47 am

Hello.
I am trying to paste a diagram from chess pad to MS word 2010 standard edition, but when I convert the file into PDF, a board without colors and pieces show up! What would be wrong and what to do about it?

Thanks in advance

when you say "convert" you mean that you click the file menu then "save as" and then change the file format to pdf?

Aha - that should work. However....

Save the file as a pdf somewhere, clicking the option "open file after saving"

see if that makes a difference

and then attach it to an email.

ok - paste any file with a sample colour diagram and text into a new word document, save it

then save it as a pdf file

then attach both files to this thread

Chess base diagrams display OK, the problem is with ChessPad (2.0) diagrams

the problem is with the fonts - even if they render correctly on your screen when you use Chesspad 2 I think you may struggle to export them

however

why not install Greenshot (google it) and then clip the diagrams from Chesspad 2 directly from the screen into Word? That will certainly work

َAll these is because I want the diagrams textual. They are now graphical (combination of Arena and Gimp) and some customers said they don't show well in a great book like my translation of Play Winning Chess.

Yesterday I printed a diagram when I was in the office at univeersity.
They printed. I didn't convert the file and printed directly from word 2010

Can I do anything else to import the fonts into PDF correctly?
In case I have to move the .docx file, what settings do I have to change on the target computer?

yes, when you create a pdf from word you have to choose the option to embed the fonts

How to Embed Fonts:

Within MS Word click File “Save As” ...
Under “PDF Options” check off “ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A)” ...
Update your Adobe Printer. ...
Make sure Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts in unchecked. ...
Select the Fonts folder and highlight all of the fonts listed under the “never embed” tab and select.

I have MS-word 2010 standard edition
Under “PDF Options” check off “ISO 19005-1 compliant (PDF/A)” ...
It is already unchecked
Update your Adobe Printer. ...
I use Foxit-reader
Make sure Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts in unchecked. ...
How?
Select the Fonts folder and highlight all of the fonts listed under the “never embed” tab and select.
Where?
I don't see such options
