British Chess News
I've started an experimental service to provide a news feed of items about British Chess appearing as I become aware of them.
I did something similar for British Table Tennis and it has become hugely popular with more then 1500 subscribers.
British Chess News (BCN) may be found at
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1836475496572167/
This is a non-commercial offering but if someone wants to move this to "Adverts" then feel free to do so!

Re: British Chess News
Out of curiosity, is it really about "British" chess, or just English chess, or just chess in the south of England?
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.

Re: British Chess News
My intention is to include items concerning chess in Great Britain and Ireland plus stories / reports featuring players from those locations playing outside of those locations.Brian Towers wrote:Out of curiosity, is it really about "British" chess, or just English chess, or just chess in the south of England?
Many of the stories would be ones that would normally not attract the attention of the mainstream chess media and generally be ignored.

For example, something like
http://www.kidderminstershuttle.co.uk/n ... r_charity/
and / or
http://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/news ... t/?ref=rss
would almost certainly be ignored whereas
https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2016/ ... u-olympiad
would receive significant attention and comment.

Re: British Chess News
Hmmm. I suppose so. But then, isn't the Daily Telegraph a bit of a duplication of The Times?
(I wouldn't read either of the newspapers, but I intend to stick with the ecforum).

I could be wrong but Facebook has a larger membership and therefore audience potential.Carl Hibbard wrote:Isn't this a bit of a duplication of here?
Many of the items I will report on BCN will never see the light of day in this place.

I do wonder very slightly what the percentage reach of FB is amongst chess players. We're not the most dramatically sociable bunch and the demographic isn't getting younger.

I don't know - I would have thought that John deserves a chuck under the chin for a new initiative.
So John - well done on giving it a go.
