Trying to find out my BCF rating for 1992
I wonder if anybody would be able to help me please: I'm am trying to find out my BCF rating for 1992 or 1993. Possibly it could have been recorded in a yearbook for those dates.
My name is Richard Pullan and I was a member of the Reading Chess Club during 1991 and 1992.

You'd want a grading list rather than a yearbook. You have, annoyingly enough, asked for a year that's just outside the boundaries of the ECF's online grading database, which dates back to 1994.

Richard
Your grade was 127 in 1991 and 120 in 1992.
I have grading lists going back to the early/mid 70s here and can look up anything you want.

Back in those days the grading list was an eagerly awaited publication.
The list for 1992, dated July 1992, shows R Pullan of Reading at B120, down from 127. A B grade means that you played at least 30 games in the two previous seasons from August 1990 to July 1992.

I'm probably being dim, but where can I find this historical data?IM Jack Rudd wrote:You'd want a grading list rather than a yearbook. You have, annoyingly enough, asked for a year that's just outside the boundaries of the ECF's online grading database, which dates back to 1994.

On the bookshelves (or other storage units) of the people above who quoted the grades. Old-style paper copies.

The ECF grading site has grades going back to 1994.NickFaulks wrote: where can I find this historical data?

or for someone with a grade throughout

Before 1994, you are reliant on the survival of printed lists

Thanks, but what I hoped to find was a list of top players in each period. i'm guessing I need hard copies for that.Roger de Coverly wrote:The ECF grading site has grades going back to 1994.NickFaulks wrote: where can I find this historical data?

There's this queryNickFaulks wrote: Thanks, but what I hoped to find was a list of top players in each period.
http://ecfgrading.org.uk/new/menu.php?file=top_players&
which only returns the most recent list.
You could propose to the ECF that they could improve the facility by making it searchable by List as well.
