Post by Paul Cooksey » Wed Oct 26, 2016 12:53 pm

Lots of online promotion for the final of the chess.com #Blitzbattle series, but I thought I'd mention it in case anyone had managed to miss the announcement. 6pm uk time tomorrow.

I am certainly looking forward to it.

Yes, it was a bitter pill to swallow, even for the biased commentators. IM Daniel Rensch seemed to be in denial, to the very end.

chess.com are claiming what seem to me to be very high viewing figures.
chess.com wrote:At some point, the match was the #3 watched show on Twitch.tv, the leading website for gaming and e-sports. A total of 183,000 unique viewers watched the show, and the hashtag #BlitzBattle was trending.

If 183,000 is thought to be larger than plausible, what does it say about the 600,000,000 players claimed by FIDE, Agon and others?
