What is your favourite Chess Website to Play Chess on?
What is everyones favourite site?
I'm choosing lichess because its free, I beat my first ICCF GM on there in a simul, its aesthetics are simple and most importantly it offers unlimited free analysis.

Bias in the poll at that - I input Lets Play Chess & register came up as 3 votes on sites which have a relation.

Chess24 is also very well known to me.
I spend most of my time on Chess Tempo.
I've beaten several grand masters on there. Their names escape me for the moment.

Re: What is your favourite Chess Website to Play Chess on?
I played on playchess.com for years, out of habit mostly, I never really looked around to see what else was available. However the constant lag and disconnection problems forced me to look for something better, and I stumbled across Lichess. What a revelation! The amount of effort that goes into that site, with constant innovations, and all completely free!
It made me realise that playchess basically made little to no effort to improve their service over the years, and were more than happy to do nothing and watch the cash roll in.

I usually play on ICC, because there are almost always GMs in their 5-minute pool. I got a game against Wesley So last week, which was nice, even if he swindled me. I don't like the sites where you have to look for someone to challenge, seems just an extra hassle.
chess24 is my favourite site overall, mainly because I love the Gusti/Svidler commentary (Wijk coming up, yay! ) But not enough strong players there to play.
Lichess the best free site for blitz in my opinion. I play blindfold there occasionally.

Never heard of lichess before this thread so just tried it out. Looks very nice. Used to play chess.com but too many engines. Never tried chess24 or ICC - do they work well on an iPad?

Chessbase.com is the one I play Blitz on. As a guest, you don't know who your opponents are, but as long as you win, who cares ?

I quite like the gamecube currency system, there is nothing better then playing a series against some low rated punk who is relentlessly trying to take my rating points and know that I am going to be making a profit even if he does manage his one win (and usually, running away with his ill gotten gains).
Would be kind of nice in real life if there was some similar system where you had to pay per game for the opportunity to face higher graded players - I am sure that might solve the issues of bottom feeders in the british.

Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

In tournaments such as Hastings, using an accelerated pairing scheme in the early rounds, not only did you not play someone on the same score, they probably hadn't paid the same entry fee either.Joey Stewart wrote: Would be kind of nice in real life if there was some similar system where you had to pay per game for the opportunity to face higher graded players -
