Today the Times Chess Correspondent has published one of his own losses. New respect, sir!

When was the last time that occurred, I wonder?

As topical as usual, or is this some kind of simul mishap?

The article describes the game as "the opening shot in an instructional series designed to teach readers about the finer points of the Greek gift" which Keene "learnt about ... the hard way" from the game.

It's Sugden-Keene, Dulwich 1961. Probably an internal school match. Anyone know if John Sugden is an Old Alleynian?

Looks like he is:
Spectator chess column, 16 May 2009 wrote:In my case, I gained much experience while at Dulwich College by playing probably hundreds of games against John Sugden. Dulwich went on to win the UK Schools Championship on several occasions, while at Cambridge we were both members of a team which won the annual Varsity match against Oxford, as well as the UK national club and counties championships.

Normal service has been resumed today - a game between Anand and Karpov from 1996 with annotations based on those in Franco's book on Anand.

Ah, "based on".
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."
