"has form for" means to have previously done something. It's usually used in a negative way, meaning to have done something that most people would not approve of.

They closed it in the name of Islam, and openned it withh a decree of ayatollah Khomeini in September 1988.
So it was done in France, too....

If you have to ask this question, the club is already doomed.

(Chess players tend to stay at a club for as long as it meets their needs. If they're thinking of leaving for non-geographical reasons, it's because you're doing something wrong.)

This is good advice. The chess captain at my (boys only) school followed this approach by arranging 18 board matches against the girls' school where his mother was a teacher. I'm still not quite sure if this was to encourage girls into the Loretto team or boys into the Nottingham team. But the answer to this conundrum is, of course, blindingly obvious. In other words, Soheil, it has double the effect that might at first be thought.

I would posit that the evidence of the UK would suggest that this is very bad advice! But then maybe we're playing up the differences again...

Although it was a kids club, there are quite a few valid ideas for adult clubs.

There seems to be a number of chess events in Iran.

There also appears to be leagues. Just get a few bodies together, form a team, enter a league and off you go.

Don't worry too much about a venue or chess equipment. When I started up Sandy Bells in the mid-90's
we had none of that, just a handful of players. We played all our matches away for the first 3 seasons and won two league titles.

What does 'off you go' mean?

'off you go'. = You are ready. Go and do it. No need for any further delay.

Another idea is to join an existing club and see how they run the club.

If it's prestige and money you want then I doubt you will get it from forming your own club.

All chess clubs in the UK are run by people who give up their spare time and are usually unpaid.
They are dedicated and often year after year receive no recognition at all except a polite hand
clap from those present at the meeting when their term of office has run it's course (finished, over).

Sometimes the club will give the person concerned a plaque (a shield, a memento) and hold
a dinner for them or maybe create a club tournament in their name. But this is not always the case.
It is my experience that the person is not doing it for prestige or recognition, they simply the love
the game of chess and want to give something back.

Without these unsung heroes many clubs would simply fold up (close, shut down, cease to exist.)
